Register of Deeds

The Labette County Register of Deeds Office is the central location for vital records and land records for Labette County.  Our office is located on the 2nd floor of the Labette County Courthouse.  The Register of Deeds Office is responsible for recording and maintaining transactions affecting real estate in Labette County.  This includes but is not limited to; deeds, mortgages, oil and gas leases, and plats. 

The Register of Deeds Office is a recording office and retains land records for public inspection. We do not provide any record searches and are not responsible for missed documents. We do not offer legal advice of any kind.

The filing fees and required indexes are set by state statute.
 
The following policies should be considered when registering or recording documents:
  1. Documents must be signed and notarized as it appears on signature line;
  2. Documents need to have a 3-inch square area in the upper right hand corner for the Registry Stamp. 
  3. Document must have a legal description (section, township, range, etc.); and
  4. Documents must be either an original document or a certified copy.
